A man in China became unable to move from the waist down after playing video games for 20 hours straight at an internet cafe on Jan. 28.
As the man was carried out by paramedics on a stretcher, he repeatedly called out to friends asking them to finish his game, according to Chinese media.
The unidentified man reportedly started playing the game from the night of Jan. 27 continuously through to the afternoon of Jan. 28 at an internet cafe in Jiaxing city of Zhejiang province, China.
One of his friends who was present was quoted as saying: “It seems he had lost sensation completely, and couldn’t move at all. We had to call for an ambulance.”
The man is reportedly currently being treated at the hospital.
According to local media, after news of this incident broke in China, online commenters have speculated that the man had developed symptoms similar to deep vein thrombosis, which they say can occur when confined to tight spaces over long periods. Other commenters urged gamers to take a break and move around every hour to avoid this situation.
