One in seven Canadians reportedly participates in outdoor or wilderness activities, according to Statistics Canada, with at least a quarter saying they’ve gone tent camping.
That number is forecasted to rise, as 2.33 million Canadians are expected to be campers by 2028, Statista predicts.

“Canada’s vast wilderness and diverse landscapes make it a prime destination for camping enthusiasts seeking adventure and natural beauty,” Statista said.

For those looking at planning an outdoor adventure this year, here are some of the top camping spots in the country, and how to book a spot.

Skyhigh Wilderness Ranch, Yukon

For a truly unique camping experience, head north into the Yukon where you can ride a dog sled or have a horseback riding adventure. With both cabins and a lodge, Skyhigh Wilderness Ranch has been offering camping experiences for over 40 years. Located outside of Whitehorse, near Fish Lake, campers can enjoy what the Great White North has to offer any time of the year.  Booking an adventure at Skyhigh starts by filling in an online form.

Parc Omega, Quebec

Get up close to some of Canada’s most amazing creatures at Parc Omega. From a safari through the wilderness to camping in the open, meet 400 animals that call the park home, including wolves, elk, bison, deer, and bears. Winter visitors can also enjoy skating, sledding, and maple taffy. Campers can reserve a spot in the park through the online portal.

Quetico Provincial Park, Ontario

A gateway to over 2,000 lakes, Quetico offers a variety of activities and adventures all year round. Campers can take part in canoeing, kayaking, hiking, swimming, bird watching, and fishing. The site is home to various trails that allow for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, and Skijoring, which is a combination of dog sledding and cross-country skiing. With rocky outcrops, waterfalls, and towering trees, there is a lot of nature to enjoy.
Booking a campsite with Ontario Parks can be done online or by phone up to five months in advance. It’s recommended that campers book early as many of the top locations fill up by the end of March.

Sturgeon Bay Provincial Park, Ontario

At the centre of 30,000 islands, Sturgeon Bay offers great fishing opportunities. It’s also an excellent place to take in sandy beaches and shallow waters. Campers can also rent a dock and motorboat or a canoe for some water fun. Reserving a spot at Sturgeon Bay can be done through Ontario Parks either online or by phone.

SunLund By-The-Sea RV Park & Cabins, British Columbia

A quieter way to connect to nature, SunLund has two creeks surrounded by trees for campers to enjoy. It also has a noise curfew so visitors can rest and listen to the authentic sounds of nature. Kayak and boat tours can be booked at a discounted rate so guests can explore the area. Online bookings are available for RV sites and cabins.

Domaine Floravie, Quebec

Rent a cabin with a waterfront view in this Quebec campground. Located at the peninsula of Riverie-Hâte, which joins the St. Lawrence River, the Domaine Floravie offers cabins, tiny homes, and chalets. The peaceful location is an ideal getaway, and campers can hike and explore the area or kayak the quiet waters. Bookings can be done through the campground website.

Pine Cliff Resort, Ontario

Located between Ottawa and Toronto on the shores of the Madawaska River and Kamaniskeg Lake, Pine Cliff Resort offers four-season cabins for a getaway to remember. Pine Cliff also offers several sites for RV campers to stay. Amenities include a salt water pool and hot tub, fitness room, recreation hall, beach, and walking trails. Canoes and kayaks can also be rented to explore the area. To reserve a cabin or RV spot, use the online booking form.
