Canada’s first Shake Shack is set to open at Yonge-Dundas Square this summer.

The U.S.-based hamburger restaurant said the location will be one of 35 it plans to open across Canada.

“We are thrilled to confirm the rumours and open our doors at Yonge and Dundas, marking the beginning of a delicious journey for Canadians,” Billy Richmond, business director at Shake Shack Canada, said in a company news release.

“We’re excited to serve up our signature Shack classics along with some Canadian exclusives that we’ve developed with our local culinary partners to be enjoyed amongst Toronto’s dynamic cityscape.”

The new shop will be in the northeast corner of Yonge-Dundas Square in a 5,500-square-foot space that was once occupied by Adidas.

While an opening date has not yet been confirmed, Canadian diners will soon be able to feast on Shake Shack’s legendary burgers, crinkle-cut fries, and handspun milkshakes.

A few Canadian-inspired items will also be on the menu, including a Maple Salted Pretzel Shake, which will be exclusive to Toronto, the news release said.

Shake Shake is also offering fans a chance to attend a housewarming party through a giveaway promotion. Just follow the brand on Instagram and tag a friend on the April 30 post, and you’re entered.

Every entry equals five meals donated to Second Harvest, a Toronto area non-profit organization.

The giveaway ends on May 15 and the winner will be contacted by the Shack Shack Canada Instagram account. Only Ontario residents 19 years and older with valid Instagram accounts are eligible.
