Police have issued Canada-wide warrants for two suspects wanted in connection with a 2021 attack on an Ontario woman in an underground parking garage. The woman, Elnaz Hajtamiri, went missing less than a month later.
Jaspreet Singh, 24, of Delta, B.C., and Sukhpreet Sing, 23, of Mississauga, Ont., are facing charges of aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. The attack, in which Hajtamiri was struck with a frying pan, occurred in Richmond Hill, Ont., on Dec. 21, 2021.
In 2022, three suspects were identified and charged in connection to the attack, with a fourth suspect arrested in February this year. A fifth suspect was charged on March 1.
Police said the men were identified “thanks to the support from the media and the public,” and they encouraged the suspects to obtain legal counsel and voluntarily turn themselves into police.
Missing More Than a Year
Police are still offering a $100,000 reward for information on the kidnapping of Hajtamari.Lilo was charged with abduction in relation to Hajtamiri’s January 2022 disappearance, as well as attempted murder and attempted abduction charges stemming from the frying pan assault in December 2021.
According to the OPP, Hajtamiri came to Canada from Iran less than five years ago. She is 5-foot-3, slim, and has black hair that she cut from a longer length before she went missing.
The investigation involves officers from York Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police.
