Canada Considers Enforcing Emergencies Act to Limit Travel Amid Pandemic

The federal government is considering tougher travel restrictions and is not ruling out invoking the Emergencies Act if Canada’s COVID-19 infection rates remains high.

The Emergencies Act would grant the cabinet the power to “regulate or prohibit travel to, from or within any specified area, where necessary for the protection of the health or safety of individuals.”
