A B.C. woman is facing forgery and impersonation charges for allegedly using phony documents to apply for a nursing job in Victoria.

Charrybelle Talaue, 34, also faces a charge of failure to comply with the conditions of an undertaking, Central Saanich Police Service said in a Dec. 19 press release.

Ms. Talaue is accused of forging a marriage certificate, an Alberta health card, a Canadian citizenship certificate, and a name change affidavit. She has also been accused of fraudulently impersonating someone named Yves Anglehart with the “intent to gain advantage for herself,” police said.

Central Saanich Police Service launched its investigation in early October after being contacted by staff at Island Health where Ms. Talaue allegedly applied for a nursing position using “suspicious documents.”

The B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), which was contacted as part of the investigation, issued a public advisory on Oct. 12 to clarify that Ms. Talaue is not a registered nurse.

“This person has never been and is not a registrant of BCCNM and is not entitled to practice as a registered nurse in British Columbia,” reads the advisory, which also warns health-care facilities that Ms. Talaue may be posing as a nurse to obtain work in hospitals.

Police said Ms. Talaue may also have applied for and worked in other health-care jobs in B.C. and Alberta under a variety of aliases, which include Charrybelle Perez Talaue, Charrybelle Talaue Baldesancho, Belle Talaue, Belle Marie, Charrybelle Baldesancho, Charie Talaue, Yves Anglehart, and Belle Yves Talaue Anglehart.

Central Saanich Police is continuing to investigate the matter, saying further charges are possible.

Other Cases

This is not the first time police have laid charges in B.C. in connection with someone posing as a nurse without credentials.
Brigitte Cleroux, 51, was charged in August with fraud over $5,000, impersonation, using forged documents, and assault. She was employed as a nurse at the private View Royal Surgical Clinic for three weeks in November 2020, according to CBC News.

She has also been accused of posing as a nurse in Colorado, Alberta, and Ontario.

She is currently serving a seven-year sentence in an Ontario prison for posing as a nurse at two Ottawa health clinics in the summer of 2021.

She faces 17 additional charges in Vancouver, including 10 counts of assault connected to her year working as a perioperative nurse at B.C. Women’s Hospital. In total, she has racked up at least 67 criminal convictions as an adult.
