An Australian mother and her daughter were killed, and father and the son severely injured when their family’s holiday van crashed into a parked container truck in Sri Lanka on Wednesday morning.
Brisbane mother Louis Collins, 37, and her four-year-old daughter Poppy died at the scene of the crash.
“The world has just lost two angels, but then again, angels don’t pass on, they just shine brighter in another realm,” Leesa Curtain, Collins’s sister-in-law, said.
The truck was parked on the side of the road due to a technical fault. The family, who were on a short holiday, crashed into the truck and toppled over on the Southern Expressway.
Husband Patrick and youngest child Fred suffered severe injuries and were being treated at Nagoda Hospital. Fred received minor plastic surgery and Patrick had a broken ankle and a severed bowel.
Curtain said that Collins lived her life with unwavering love, warmth, and grace. She is heartbroken that she has to imagine a life without Collins and Poppy.
