An Alberta murder suspect out on bail is wanted by the RCMP after she allegedly assaulted an officer while resisting arrest before subsequently fleeing the scene.
Wetaskiwin resident Talsa Ashlee Cardinal, 31, was released from custody with a 24-hour curfew on March 29 after being charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting in Edmonton last year, the RCMP said in an emailed press release.
Cardinal was approached by Wetaskiwin RCMP officers on Oct. 19 after she was seen breaching her release order, police said.
When police attempted to take her into custody she allegedly assaulted the arresting officer and fled, Alberta RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney told The Epoch Times.
Cardinal is now facing charges of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and failure to comply with a release order.
Police believe Cardinal may be in Wetaskiwin or Edmonton, Slaney said.
“We cannot say if she is a risk to the public but she is charged with murder,” she added.
Cardinal is described as being five-foot-eight inches tall and 145 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Wetaskiwin RCMP is asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
Wetaskiwin is located approximately 70 kilometres south of Edmonton.

Murder Charge

Cardinal was charged in January with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 33-year-old Travis Cardinal in a central Edmonton park last summer.
Edmonton Police officers were called to investigate multiple weapons complaints on Aug. 11, 2023, when they found a man with life-threatening injuries in Eastwood Park, a popular playground in a residential neighbourhood, police said. He was treated on scene by emergency crews before being transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
An autopsy completed by the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that Travis Cardinal died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, police said.
The Edmonton Police Service charged Paul Everette Lawrence, 36, with first-degree murder in connection with the death. Cardinal was also charged with first degree murder in the incident.

Police said Cardinal was not related to the murder victim.
