Several people are feared trapped after a four-storey building collapsed in India’s western Ahmedabad city on the night of Aug. 26.
Authorities had given a notice to all the residents and the building was vacated. The reason why people entered the building again was not immediately known.
Additional Chief Fire Officer, Rajesh Bhatt said that two people were rescued and around 10 were feared trapped.
Television images showed people on top of the debris, looking for those trapped as rescue personnel reached the spot and began a frantic search to find survivors.
“Teams of Municipal Corporation, state government, National Disaster Response Force and fire brigade are carrying out rescue operations. Five NDRF teams are deployed. Required machinery will be deployed immediately,” Jadeja told media.
