A plane with 10 passengers has flipped while trying to land on a far north Queensland island.
Those on board suffered a range of injuries, including a head wound and a broken arm, after the plane appeared to overshoot the runway at Lizard Island at about 7.30 a.m. on Monday.
Two rescue helicopters and a Royal Flying Doctor Service aircraft flew to the popular resort island, about 240 kilometres north of Cairns.
All 10 passengers, including a child, suffered minor injuries with a number being transported for further treatment.
“We have a stretcher patient and three mobile patients,” Queensland Ambulance Service’s Brina Keating said.
“The reports of injuries are we have a patient with a head injury, a minor laceration and also a report of a fractured arm.
“All passengers are out of the aircraft.”
