Woman Shot to Death in Los Angeles House; Suspect Arrested

SAN FERNANDO, Calif.—A 38-year-old woman was shot to death inside a house in San Fernando, authorities said July 16.

Stephanie Rodriguez was a San Fernando resident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The shooting was reported at 3:18 a.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Kewen Street, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Daniel Vizcarra. Ms. Rodriguez died at the scene.

Homicide detectives later detained 34-year-old Evelyn Torres of Palmdale as a person of interest in the killing, Mr. Vizcarra said. Ms. Torres was later officially arrested as a suspect in the murder.

A motive for the shooting was not released by the sheriff’s department, nor was the nature of Ms. Torres’s relationship with the victim.
