Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run in Playa Del Rey; Motorist Sought

PLAYA DEL REY, Calif.—Authorities continued their efforts Monday to find a hit-and-run motorist responsible for fatally injuring a woman who was crossing a Playa del Rey street with her 3-year-old son.

Wendy Galdamez Palma, 33, was injured about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 8800 block of Vista Del Mar and died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

Palma was hit by a Toyota 4Runner, according to the LAPD. No description was available of the motorist.

Relatives told Fox11 the Downey woman shielded her 3-year-old son, who was treated at a hospital and released. They had been attending a family bonfire.

Anyone with information regarding the crash was urged to call the LAPD’s West Traffic Division at 213-473-0022.
