A woman has been banned by police from a Texas Walmart for refusing to pay full price for a cake she allegedly ate half of while in the store.

Wichita Falls police said that the unidentified woman went the store’s bakery section shortly before 8 p.m. on June 25 and selected a cake, reported The Times Record News.
She then allegedly ate half of it while walking toward the checkout, WWOR reported citing Wichita Falls Police Department, and at the register was confronted by a Walmart staffer who challenged her about the missing half.

The report claims the woman said she would only pay for part of the half-eaten cake.

The store manager then called the police, the news outlet reported.

Wichita Falls Police Department spokesman Officer Jeff Hughes said officers responding to the theft call made no arrests after the woman paid for the entire cake but banned her from the Walmart located on Greenbriar Road for theft, Times Record News reported.

The paper posted the story on its Facebook page, where it met with strong reactions, including by one woman who claimed the story had been exaggerated: “It was angel.food cake. Her sugar was dropping so she tore a piece off to eat it..... Florence (Walmart worker) was extremely rude about the situation and attacked the lady and it escalated from there.”

“It literally was not a big deal... Until Flo made it a big deal! Headline is funny though,” the woman wrote.

Woman Banned From Texas Walmart After Riding Cart While Drinking Wine From Pringles Can

The incident recalls the case of a woman was banned from another Wichita Falls Walmart for riding a cart in the store’s parking lot while drinking wine from a Pringles can, said police.
Police officers were called to the Texas store around 9 a.m. on Jan. 11, according to the Times Record News.

Employees told officers that the woman had been riding the electric disabilities cart and drinking for “several hours” before they called the police, the paper reported.

Officer Jeff Hughes told the news outlet that police were told by 911 dispatchers that the woman had been riding around in the store’s parking lot since 6:30 a.m.

The electric shopping carts are generally reserved for people with disabilities, and officers said she was drinking from an empty Pringles can.

Officers located the woman in a nearby restaurant. She was then told she was banned from the Walmart.

The story received national attention, with late-night host Stephen Colbert poking fun at the incident while drinking from a can of the chips on the show.

“Wine in a Pringles can lady, here’s to you!” the “The Late Show” wrote on Twitter at the time.

Pringles also leveraged the incident in a Facebook marketing campaign, posting a photo illustration of two Pringles cans with wine stems clinking.

“Toasting has never been so tasty,” reads the caption.
