President Donald Trump kicked off a rally in Richmond, Kentucky on Oct. 13, by celebrating the release of American pastor Andrew Brunson and thanking Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his cooperation, saying it may be the start of a “terrific relationship.”

Brunson was welcomed back to the Oval Office on Oct. 13 after spending two years in confinement in Turkey.

Speaking at a political rally on Saturday night at Eastern Kentucky University, Trump kicked off by proudly listing his administration’s accomplishments for the American people, leading with the historically low unemployment rate.

During the Kentucky rally, the U.S. president spoke about the devastation of Hurricane Michael.

He praised the federal government, law enforcement, local officials, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for their recovery efforts in the affected areas.

Trump is in Kentucky to promote the campaigns of GOP candidates for Congress.

Honduran Migrant Group Treks North as US Calls for Tighter Borders

More than 1,000 people set off from Honduras to the United States on Oct. 13.

They plan to walk from northern Honduras through Guatemala and into Mexico.

Once in Mexico, they are hoping to obtain refugee status to remain in the country, or obtain a visa to allow them to pass through the U.S. border.

Just days before, the United States urged Honduras to halt the attempted mass migration.

On Oct. 11, Vice President Mike Pence told the presidents of Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador that the United States could help with economic development if they did more to tackle migration and corruption.

Army Vet Rescues American Flag

Chris Ellenburg was driving home from work when something on the road caught his eye.

What he initially thought was trash turned out to be a tattered flag.

He immediately pulled over and hopped out of his truck to rescue the flag that was being run over by other drivers.

“I honestly could not believe it. I figured it was normal trash, but as soon as I seen the flag open up as it flipped over into my lane, I knew,” said Ellenburg.

As a disabled army veteran, Ellenburg was trained to leave no man behind.

The flag he rescued has seen better days. It was covered in holes with torn stripes, but it’s still a prized possession to Ellenburg.

“It may not have been to war, it may not have been in combat, it may not have flown over a military base, it may have just flown over somebody’s backyard, but it’s going to be honored for what it stands for,” said Ellenburg.

Ellenburg said on Oct. 11 that he planned to properly retire the flag that evening.

Or Key lime pie—introduced in Florida.
