President Donald Trump is urging Republicans to turn out for the midterm elections.
“There is something going on. There is an electricity like people have not seen since a date - 2016, November. A lot of things are going on,” said Trump in Cleveland on Nov. 5.
He recalled the final days of his 2016 campaign, comparing his upset victory then to Republicans defying the polls now, and potentially keeping both houses of Congress.
US Troops Construct Tents in Border Base Encampment
Soldiers and Airmen were busy assembling the framework for a tent at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona on Nov. 4.The completed compound will house soldiers deployed in support of Operation Faithful Patriot.
The military announced that over 7,000 troops would go to the border with Mexico, as a caravan of Central American migrants slowly heads toward the United States.
US Imposes More Sanctions on Iran
The Trump Administration imposed a new set of sanctions on Iran on Nov. 5.
The sanctions that were removed under the 2015 nuclear deal were reinstated.
“We are making it abundantly clear to the Iranian regime that they will face mounting financial isolation until they fundamentally change their destabilizing behavior,” U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said during a press conference at the State Department.
It’s part of an effort to limit Iran’s nuclear and missile work and reduce the Islamic Republic’s influence in the Middle East.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade organizers test out new balloons
This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will feature a smiley cloud shining down on the parade route.
The balloon called “The Little Cloud” is 30-feet-wide.
Parade organizers held a test flight in New Jersey on Saturday, ahead of the parade later this month.
A 56-foot-tall balloon of the “Dragon Ball Z” character “Goku” is also set to appear.
There will be 16 giant character balloons, 43 novelty balloons, 26 floats, 1,200 cheerleaders and dancers, more than 1,000 clowns, and 12 marching bands this year.
The Macy’s 92nd Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place Nov. 22.
