Police are looking for suspects who beat and carjacked an elderly man in Las Vegas this month.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department wrote that “detectives need your help” in finding the suspects who beat the 78-year-old man and then stole his vehicle.
News3 reported that the man was attacked outside a Mexican restaurant at Eastern Avenue and Fremont Street.

After he left the restaurant, called El Austente, he was attacked by three men, said police.

Captain Laz Chavez told News3 that the victim is still in the hospital and is injured.

“This man provided no resistance, and yet the suspects savagely beat him and took his car keys and cell phone. Even after they retrieved all of that, they went back and beat him some more,” said Capt. Chavez.

Witnesses told police that the men responsible live in the area. A restaurant worker said she and two other workers chased the suspects off.

“I yelled at them. They ran because they hit the man. They went into the car and left,” the restaurant worker told the station.

The stolen car, a 2001 Ford Taurus, was found abandoned in an alley.

Chavez said, “If they are watching TV, we will find you, so it’s time for you to turn yourselves in now. Give this poor man his car keys, his car, his cellphone and give him back his dignity life.”

Police also stated that it’s important the suspects are caught so they don’t do it again.

“Once you see this video, it should shock everybody,” Chavez told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “This is one of our most vulnerable victims in Las Vegas—the elderly.”

If you know who the suspects are urged to contact the police department at 702-828-4152.
