Police in Denver are searching for an unknown woman who robbed a liquor store with the help of a young child.
Authorities released a photo of the woman caught on surveillance cameras as she appeared to speak on her phone and made her way through the store.
They said the woman “entered the liquor store and rummaged through the shelves and under the cash registers,” before taking off with a large sum of money.
The unidentified female had two small children with her, one male and one female, which police say were approximately 6 years old.
Police said the 6-year-old boy helped to assist the woman in the search for cash behind the counter.
“It’s not an excuse to use your kids to do such a thing,” they said.
According to the publication, the woman had also walked into a convenience store in the same strip mall before heading to the liquor store.
While at the convenience store, she used the children as a distraction while she stole items such as lotion and body wash, the report says.
Woman Uses 4 Children to Help Shoplift From Target
In a similar incident, a Walton County woman used her four children to help her shoplift from a department store. She entered the store with her three children aged 11 and 12 and two other juveniles before pointing out merchandise for them to steal.
Smith then left the store and returned to her vehicle while her children stole the items before bringing them out to her.
According to the publication, Police said the children had been prevented from stealing by an employee twice before.
However, on Jan. 18 the juveniles managed to leave the store with almost $1,200 worth of stolen merchandise.
They later thanked the public for their help in identifying Smith, who they state is from Monroe, Georgia.
“Detectives have interviewed Smith and will be seeking multiple felony shoplifting warrants. Smith is currently in the Walton County Jail on similar charges,” they wrote in a Facebook post.
