A baby was born in the bathroom at a Burger King in Ohio, and police alleged that the mother gave birth while she was overdosing on heroin.

Chillicothe police told ABC6 that police initially responded to a report of a man who had passed out inside a car and that a woman had overdosed.

Zachary Frey, 26, was found passed out behind the wheel of a running car. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Sanders, 26, was found sitting on the toilet in the Burger King restroom with a suspected ball of heroin near her.

She told officers that she thought she had suffered a miscarriage. But the officer noticed that the infant was alive, the Chillicothe Gazette reported.

A medic then grabbed the newborn child, who was still breathing. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Chillicothe Police Capt. Larry Bamfield told the Gazette that the child is expected to survive. It’s unclear who will get custody of the child.

Frey was taken to the Ross County Jail and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle while impaired.

Frey was drooling, slurring his speech, kept nodding off, and had pinpoint pupils, according to the ABC6 report.

After Sanders was released from the hospital, she was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft, ABC affiliate report stated.
