A woman has died after falling from a balcony on a cruise ship.
The as-yet unidentified woman fell from her cabin’s balcony on a Carnival Cruise Line ship, the Carnival Elation, while traveling from Jacksonville, Florida to the Bahamas.
A woman on board texted her mother that “there was blood everywhere.”
“The ship’s medical team responded immediately, but, unfortunately, she passed away,” Gulliksen said in a statement to the Herald. “...Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased and her family.”
He added that Carnival Cruise Line had notified Bahamian law enforcement, the FBI, and other law agencies, and that the company is “assisting these agencies as the investigation continues.”
The passenger who texted her mother said that people were not allowed off the boat while the incident was investigated at Freeport, Bahamas.
It is not the first time passengers have died aboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship.
In Oct. 2017, 8-year-old Zion Smith fell two stories while the ship was docked at a Miami port and died.
And in Feb. 2017, Kevin Wellons from Georgia fell overboard from the Carnival Elation near the Bahamas.
