A Wisconsin woman claimed that her hair fell out after Nair, a hair removal product, was allegedly mixed into her conditioner that she purchased from Walmart. The company told a location news station that it is investigating the matter.
Ashley Rose Robinson, from New Richmond, bought Pantene Pro-V Sheer Volume conditioner last week, according to a Facebook post by her mother on July 28.
She said, “As I speak she is losing hair and crying!! Conditioner … is supposed to be white [but] is a ugly pink color.”
“I can’t trust anything anymore,” she wrote. “I don’t know what I’m going to do at the moment. I’m just letting everything soak in.”
She also posted photos of bald spots where her hair used to be.
“This is raw and has hit me like no other,” Robinson wrote. “My hair was finally the way I loved it to be and now it’s gone. These photos I’m sharing are personal to me but apparently needs to get out there…. My heart hurts terribly [and] I don’t even have any words to say to anyone….My only intentions for sharing is to prevent it from happening to anyone else. Check your bottles wherever you get them, nothing can be trusted anymore.”
Robinson said that she was forced to shave her head.
“Tomorrow I go back to work and I’m very anxious, my emotions [have] never been so high,” she added in the post. “I love my job and people but I’m scared. They told me it’s okay to be scared but know your [sic] not alone at all.”
A Walmart spokeswoman told the station that officials are investigating Rose’s claims. They are now working with police to investigate camera footage.
Viral Tampering Incident?
It’s not clear if someone had tampered with the product before placing it back on the Walmart shelf.Over the past several weeks, viral videos have shown people licking ice cream before placing it back on the shelf and allegedly spitting into bottled drinks before returning it to shelves.
The video shows the teens taking bottles from the cooler inside the store, which was not named. They then open the bottles, spit in them, place the caps back on, and then place the bottles in the cooler.
“I’m like ‘Are they spitting in there?'” said Edwards. “When I first saw it, it just made me disgusted because I’m pregnant,” she added.
Edwards said that she doesn’t understand why they would do something so vile.
“I don’t know what’s in kids’ minds these days, but that’s not right at all,” she told WTHR, which is based in Indianapolis.
