The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) said on Wednesday that the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly pointing a gun at police officers from her yard.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) was in search of three suspects from a misdemeanor hit-and-run in the northeast Los Angeles neighborhood of Eagle Rock on Tuesday. One of the suspects was being chased through a backyard when police encountered 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, who was in the front yard of a neighboring residence with a gun in her hand.

“The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused,” LAPD public information officer David Cuellar told NTD. “Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Shriner was struck by police gunfire and fled into her home. She later exited the residence and was taken into custody. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took her to a hospital, where she was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Authorities later said that Shriner was not involved in the hit-and-run. The CHP located one of the three hit-and-run suspects, who was cited by CHP and released.

Shriner has since been released from custody after posting $1 million bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 30 at 8:30 a.m., according to sheriff’s records released on April 9.

There has been no immediate decision from prosecutors regarding formal charges.

Police said they recovered a 9-millimeter handgun from Shriner’s residence. Cuellar could not confirm whether it was the same gun that Shriner allegedly pointed at officers.

Neither Jillian Shriner nor her husband, Scott, responded to requests for comment by publication time.

Shriner is known for her 2010 bestselling memoir, “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem.” She also wrote “Everything You Ever Wanted,” published in 2015, about adopting an Ethiopian child with special needs.

Her husband is the bassist for the Los Angeles band “Weezer,” known for songs such as “Say It Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly.” The band is scheduled to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 12.

The couple has been married since 2005. They have two children.
