Police in Pasco County, Florida, uploaded a video that shows an officer rescuing a man who was drowning.
“Grant jumped an approximately 10-foot tall security fence and entered the property,” according to the sheriff’s office. The video shows him then run to a body of water.
“He quickly sprinted across approximately five acres of land and observed a female yelling for help as she attempted to hold the victim above the water. The sinking male was trapped in between the sea wall and a floating walkway. Deputy Grant pulled the submerged male from the water,” said the office.
It added, “The male was initiatively unresponsive but responded quickly once Deputy Grant began his efforts to revive him.”
The man was then transported to an area hospital when fire officials arrived.
“From what the wife said, he wanted to go look out at the scenery before a doctor’s appointment and after she realized he was gone past the time they were supposed to leave, she tried calling him. She couldn’t get ahold of him,” Grant told the station.
“Number one thing was just get there. It didn’t matter how. I looked at the wall and I saw that it was much taller than me, and I saw where there was a small electrical box and I figured it might hold my weight and I used it propel myself up,” Grant said.
The man, 51, is reportedly in critical condition at North Bay Hospital, WFLA said.
