Two teenagers are accused of carjacking a teacher in Miami-Dade County, according to reports on Oct. 2.
The teacher, 59-year-old Flora Martinez, was approached by a teen at gunpoint. The teen demanded her keys, and she ran away toward the school.
Another teen got inside the car before the two drove away in the vehicle.
The video shows that the boys were having trouble backing out of the parking lot. The parking brake may have been engaged.
They crashed the car into a curb as they were making their escape, according to the Local10 report.
Martinez identified one of the teens from a police lineup.
The teens also gave statements incriminating themselves of the carjacking after they were arrested, according to the report.
A judge ordered that the teens be held in supervised detention until Oct. 10, their next court date.
“You can’t go near the teacher and you can’t go on the school property,” the judge told the two, Local10 reported. “Do you both understand?”
