A mother in Massachusetts has been charged with murder after officials found two boys stabbed to death in her home.
Latarsha Sanders, 43, was charged with two counts of murder after the discovery of her two boys, ages 5 and 8, stabbed to death in her Brockton home.
“All crime scenes are grisly, but these victims were innocent children,” Cruz said on Monday evening. “This was a gruesome and disturbing and most of all heartbreaking crime.”
The children are believed to have been dead for one to two days before the discovery.
Cruz said their mother “made statements that can be construed as admissions to this crime to the investigators.”
The motive is unclear at this time.
“And a woman (who also lived in the building) came out and said ‘I think she killed her babies.’ She was just kind of sitting there and then she was kind of hysterical going in the ambulance and I’m looking at her going, ‘Oh, she must’ve snapped or something,’ but I wouldn’t think of that.”
Darcy Ruskiewicz, who lives nearby, was among those shocked by the news. She started a memorial near the apartment.
“It’s just heartbreaking to hear that someone did this to their children,” she said. “I have grandchildren, I have a daughter. I heard the news and it just broke my heart. It overcame me.”
She was appointed a public defender.
