Madeleine Westerhout, who was President Donald Trump’s longtime personal assistant, has resigned from her role on Aug. 29, according to reports.
Westerhout, 28, is rumored to have resigned after Trump found out on Aug. 29 that she had shared details about his family and Oval Office operations at a recent off-the-record dinner with reporters, one of two anonymous sources familiar with her departure shared with the Times. According to the source, the dinner took place near Bedminster, New Jersey, while Trump was on a working vacation.
One anonymous source told the Times that the people familiar with the situation claimed that her sharing such information was a breach of trust, which means that she will not be granted permission to return to the White House on Aug. 30.
The Epoch Times could not independently verify the details that sources revealed to the Times.
The White House and Westerhout have yet to publicly comment on the matter as of late Aug. 30.
Westerhout had served as the president’s personal assistant from the first day of his administration.
Her political career started when she interned with Mitt Romney for his 2012 presidential campaign, and later with representative John Campbell (R-Calif.). She worked with former South Carolina Sen. John Kuhn in 2013 and went on to serve as an aide to the Republican National Committee.
