Police in Texas said a man posing as a campaigner for presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke allegedly broke into an Austin home and helped himself to a Popsicle.
James Bradford Gibbon II, 28, was arrested on Tuesday, May 28, in a South Austin neighborhood and faces charges of burglary.
A witness cited in the report allegedly spotted Gibbon hanging around his neighbor’s front door wearing a Beto T-shirt. When asked what he was doing there, Gibbon allegedly replied he was “campaigning for Beto for president.”
Police told the news outlet the witness assumed Gibbon was at his neighbor’s home canvassing for votes and told Gibbon to beware of the dogs.

Crime in the United States
Violent crime in the United States has fallen sharply over the past 25 years, according to both the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) and the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS).Both studies are based on data up to and including 2017, the most recent year for which complete figures are available.
While the overall rate of violent crime has seen a steady downward drop since its peak in the 1990s, there have been several upticks that bucked the trend.
