A Texas man has been arrested for allegedly threatening to kill an FBI agent who helped investigate President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

Timothy Muller, 43, from Fort Worth, was charged with violating a law that prohibits interstate threats against federal officials. He was arrested at his house on June 13.

According to charging documents, Mr. Muller called the agent, dubbed J.W., on Tuesday after Hunter Biden was convicted of lying about not being a drug addict when he bought a gun and of possessing a gun as an addict.

The agent answered but hung up after Mr. Muller said, “Hey.”

Mr. Muller called back and left an approximately one-minute-long voicemail, according to a criminal complaint. In the message, he allegedly said that the agent “can run, but you can’t [expletive] hide.” He was also quoted as saying, “You covered up child pornography,” in relation to Hunter Biden.

“We'll hunt you [expletive] down and slaughter you like the traitorous dogs you are in your own [expletive] homes,” Mr. Muller allegedly said, adding later that the families of agents would also be killed.

After leaving the message, Mr. Muller is accused of sending text messages to the agent. One message allegedly stated, “Did you [expletive] really think you were going to disenfranchise 75 million Americans and not die? Lol.”

Mr. Muller faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

A court-appointed attorney for Mr. Muller did not respond to a request for comment.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) noted that the charging documents contain allegations and that Mr. Muller is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Prosecutors requested Mr. Muller be detained because they believe he would be a danger to the community if released pending trial.

Mr. Muller was ordered held pending an upcoming hearing on June 18 by U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Cureton, according to the court docket.

The charges against Mr. Muller came after Attorney General Merrick Garland raised concerns that false and misleading information about the DOJ and the FBI poses risks to workers.

Mr. Biden was convicted by a jury in Delaware. He still faces tax charges in California, where he is set to appear in court in September. He has pleaded not guilty to nine tax charges.

Court papers allege that the president’s son failed to pay at least $1.4 million in federal taxes he owed from 2016 through 2019.
