Sen. Ted Cruz was heckled out of a restaurant in Washington by a crowd of far-left protesters on Sept. 24, in the latest effort by activists to disrupt the lives of Republican officials in public.
Cruz (R-Texas) and his wife, Heidi, were preparing to be seated in the restaurant when a group of protesters entered the establishment and began yelling at them. The protesters confronted Cruz about his position over the allegations against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh, but he declined to answer and soon exited.
“We believe survivors!” the group chanted in one clip, shared by the far-left group “Smash Racism DC.” According to the group’s Twitter page, it is affiliated with Antifa and also supports the movement to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Another video shows a woman pestering Cruz about whether he'd vote to confirm Kavanaugh.
“God bless you, ma'am,” Cruz said amid the shouts, as he got up to leave with his wife. “Excuse me, let my wife through,” he said as protesters attempted to physically block him from leaving.
The two women who have accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct have been unable to provide any witnesses to the alleged incidents or any evidence placing him at the scene of the alleged incidents, but that hasn’t stopped people from automatically believing them.
Cruz has been among the many Republicans stating they want to hear Ford, the principal accuser, testify. The hearing has been postponed multiple times in an effort to have her appear and tell her story. She is the only one from the alleged party to not give testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
