Local authorities have identified the shooter in the deadly shooting at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, Monday.

In a press conference on Monday evening, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes identified the shooter as 15-year-old female student Natalie Rupnow. She went by the name Samantha at the school. Investigators are talking to the suspect’s family, who are in shock, grieving, and cooperating, police said.

Barnes said Rupnow died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound en route to the hospital after she attempted to kill herself on the scene. She was found by first responders.

A teacher and student were killed, and four other students were injured in the shooting at the private Christian school. The injured students remain in hospital, with two in critical condition, police said.
