LOS ANGELES—A Metro bus was vandalized with graffiti during a street takeover Monday, July 1, in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.

Officers were sent to Flower Street and Olympic Boulevard about 3 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Beyond a “large number” of vehicles involved in a street takeover, dispatchers received calls of fireworks being set off and possible gunshots, according to the LAPD.

At least 50 vehicles were involved in the takeover, according to the Los Angeles Times, which reported that investigators found no evidence of gunfire.

Photos from the scene showed the windows of a Silver Line bus covered in graffiti.

“Metro Bus Line 910 was blocked by a street takeover and tagged with graffiti,” Metro said in a statement. “The bus operator and passengers were not harmed, but the disturbance delayed the bus for 20 minutes.”

No injuries were reported, and no one was arrested, but the LAPD is investigating, police said. Anyone who may have witnessed the crime was urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.

The incident follows another illegal street takeover in downtown Los Angeles early Saturday morning that left two vehicles engulfed in flames.
