LA HABRA, Calif.—A stolen truck suspect who led officers on a chase through three counties, slammed into police cars, briefly drove the wrong way on the Riverside 91 Freeway and ran across the freeway was in custody on Oct. 3.

The chase began at around 8:20 p.m. on Oct. 2 in La Habra, went through Orange County to Chino Hills and Ontario in San Bernardino County and then into Riverside County, KCAL reported.

The suspect twice backed into a La Habra Police Department cruiser in Corona and a short time later was boxed in by three police vehicles at Maple and Sixth streets in Corona. The driver then drove through trees and over a fence into a business’ parking lot.

The suspect jumped the truck over an embankment onto westbound lanes of the Riverside Freeway, against oncoming traffic, with the chainlink fence dragging behind the vehicle and smoke billowing from the tires, KCAL reported.

The suspect abandoned the truck on the freeway, then ran across both the westbound and eastbound portions of the freeway into the parking lot of a Denny’s restaurant, losing a wig, and then into the restaurant.

The suspect was arrested following a search of the restaurant and taken to a hospital in an unknown condition.
