SAN DIEGO—A Point Loma man was behind bars Aug. 22 on suspicion of carrying out a shooting rampage at his home, leaving his mother wounded and two other people dead.
William Bushey, 60, allegedly shot the victims shortly before 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at the house he shares with his mother in the 3600 block of Zola St., a block from Point Loma High School, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Patrol personnel arrived to find the suspect in front of the residence with a shotgun nearby, and took him into custody, San Diego Police Lt. Jud Campbell said.
The officers then discovered the victims—Bushey’s mother, who is in her 80s, and a mortally wounded man and woman, believed to be in their 30s and 60s, respectively.
The latter two died at the scene.
“Detectives are working with the Medical Examiner to identify these victims,” Campbell said.
Paramedics took Bushey’s mother to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
“At this point, this victim is in stable condition and is expected to survive her injuries,” the lieutenant said Thursday afternoon.
Police have released no suspected motive for the shooting and have not disclosed the relationships, if any, between the suspect and the two slain people.
Bushey was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder and a charge of attempted murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Aug. 23 afternoon.
