Despite the climbing inflation across the country, the cost of filling up gas tanks in Southern California has been dropping for more than two months, according to reports from the American Automobile Association (AAA) and the Oil Price Information Service.
As of Aug. 18 in Los Angeles County, the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline decreased for the 65th consecutive day—now at its lowest since March 5.
The county’s average price has dropped $1.11 since a record high of $6.46 on June 14. It is 6.2 cents less than a week ago but 95.7 cents more than a year ago.
In Orange County, the average price has dropped $1.18 since rising to a record $6.41 on June 12. It is 7.3 cents less than a week ago but 86.8 cents more than a year ago.
The San Diego County average price has decreased $1.07 since rising to a record $6.37 on June 15, now at its lowest since March 6. It is 6.6 cents less than a week ago but 95 cents more than a year ago.
The national average price dropped for the 65th consecutive day to $1.09 since rising to a record $5.02 on June 14. It is 5.9 cents less than a week ago but 75.1 cents more than a year ago.
