Bay Area-headquartered chocolate company See’s Candies announced the permanent closing of one of its San Francisco locations, local news outlet San Francisco Gate reported this week.

The company announced its location at 3 Embarcadero Center will permanently close Dec. 24. A reason for the closure was not given.

See’s Candies have been a holiday gift staple for Americans since the company’s founding nearly one hundred years ago.

In addition to chocolate, See’s makes more than 100 different types of sweets—including peanut brittle, toffee, and chocolate walnut fudge, still using the same recipes from founder Mary See.

The company opened its first store in 1921 in Los Angeles and expanded to the Bay Area in 1936.

Owned by American investor Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Corporation since 1972, See’s Candies now has more than 200 shops across the country.
