SANTA ANA, Calif.—A 28-year-old Santa Ana high school coach accused of sending inappropriate messages to a girl he was coaching and attempting to meet with her posted bail July 15 and was released from jail.

Aaron Raya, 28, of Santa Ana, was arrested Sunday at his home, but posted bail and was released Monday morning.

Mr. Raya is the head track and field coach and also coaches football, and he’s a substitute teacher at Godinez High School, said Santa Ana Officer Natalie Garcia.

Mr. Raya would talk to the teen during the school year through social media, and when she graduated he started “contacting her in a sexual manner and attempted to meet with her,” according to Ms. Garcia.

Two other underage former students have also alleged the coach “made sexual advances” toward them, Ms. Garcia said.

Anyone who has relevant information on the suspect was asked to call investigators at 714-245-8346 or by emailing [email protected]. Orange County Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at 855-TIP-OCCS.
