A significant number of police officers descended upon San Francisco’s Balboa High School after reports that someone brought a firearm on campus.
“An incident has occurred at Balboa HS. #SFPD is on scene. Balboa HS, James Denman MS & Leadership School are on lock down at this time. SFPD PIO @OfficerGrace is responding, Media staging area will be at the intersection of Onondaga & Cayuga Ave,” said San Francisco Police on Twitter after 3 p.m. ET.
San Francisco Public Schools tweeted that “students are safe and” and police are investigating. Denman Middle School, Leadership High School, San Miguel Early Education School, and Balboa High are on lockdown, it said.
A teacher in one of the high school’s classrooms told the station that everyone is safe and they are “hunkered down” in the room. About 30 students are in the room, KTVU reported.
No other details in the case were immediately available.
