Downey Kaiser Hospital in Southern California was evacuated on Sept. 11 over reports of an active shooter.
One suspect was detained, said police. Those in the medical facility were asked to shelter in place as officers search each room of the building for more possible suspects.
Police also “have confirmed there are no injuries. Officers/deputies continue a systematic search for any possible additional suspects and evidence. Stay clear of area. Those inside #Kaiser, remain sheltered and wait for law enforcement instruction,” the sheriff’s office said.
The incident comes on the 17th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City.
Downey is located in southeastern Los Angeles County.
