Several convenience stores across Los Angeles and Orange counties were targeted by a group of male thieves May 19 and May 20.
Law enforcement reported they jumped the counters of at least several stores and grabbed cash registers before fleeing in a car.
There have been no arrests.
Several suspects, described as black males wearing dark clothing, entered stores in Anaheim, located in Orange County, starting Sunday night. The robbers fled in what police say was a dark-colored SUV, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Jon McClintock.
“We had three robberies tonight, and we believe these robberies are connected to other robberies in other jurisdictions,” Mr. McClintock said in a statement provided to The Epoch Times. “We are working with surrounding agencies to investigate these incidents.”
The robberies appear to have occurred at stores located just off Interstate 91, also known as the Riverside Freeway.
At about 10 a.m., the suspects entered a 7-Eleven on North East Street. Then, a few minutes later at 10:21 p.m. they entered a Shell Gas Station on East La Palma Avenue, followed by another robbery at about 1 a.m. on East Riverdale Avenue.
Then, about 15 minutes west of the Anaheim robberies along I-91 in Fullerton, police responded to another 7-Eleven store on the 1000 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
In that incident, police say at least five males jumped over the counter before grabbing a cash register box and cigarettes, according to the Fullerton Police Department. The men then fled in a vehicle, according to Fullerton Police Department Spokeswoman Kristy Wells.
Police said they are not yet releasing the vehicle description and other details about the robbery, as an investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
In Los Angeles County, another robbery occurred at 1:46 a.m. Monday at a 7-Eleven store on Artesia Boulevard in Bellflower, about 15 minutes west of the Fullerton robbery.
Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the report of a robbery that involved four black men running into the store, jumping over the counter and stealing two cash registers. The suspects fled in an orange SUV, according to the sheriff’s department.
No injuries were reported, and the suspects did not have weapons, according to Lt. E. Vega with the Lakewood Sheriff’s station.
Other similar robberies may have also occurred in Orange and Gardenia, according to ABC 7 news.
