Former NFL star Richard Sherman is the latest professional athlete to have his home burglarized, after three armed men broke into his Washington residence with his family present.

The 37-year-old posted a series of pictures and home surveillance footage of the incident on social media platform X, which shows the intruders carrying weapons while entering and exiting through a broken window with bags that appeared to be full.
“House being robbed at gun point with my family in it isn’t what anyone wants for a birthday gift,” he wrote on X.
“Scary situation that my Wife handled masterfully and kept my kids safe. If anyone has any info that can help find these people please reach out.”

In a now-deleted post on her Instagram Stories, Sherman’s wife, Ashley Moss, described the terrifying ordeal but reaffirmed their family is “physically ok.”

“Waking up to intruders outside your bedroom with a gun is something no one should have to experience,” she wrote. “Like I said they tried the wrong people! We WILL find you!”

An investigation is currently underway with the King County Sheriff’s Office, with the retired defensive back confirming the thieves broke into five other homes in the area.

It is unclear what items were taken from the Sherman family residence.

Sherman played 11 seasons with the league, where he won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014.
Over his decade-long career, he became a three-time first-team All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl defensive back playing for Seattle, as well as the San Francisco 49ers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In 2022, Sherman became a studio analyst for Amazon Prime Video’s “Thursday Night Football” coverage and also hosts his own podcast.

The Epoch Times reached out to the King County Sheriff’s Office for further information on the burglary but did not hear back by the time of publication.

The break-in comes after seven Chilean nationals were arrested in February in connection to a spree of burglaries targeting professional athletes across the nation.
The unsealed federal criminal complaint, alleges the individuals are members of a South American Theft Group.

Sergio Ortega Cabello, 38, Bastian Jimenez Freraut, 27, Pablo Zuniga Cartes, 24, Alexander Huiaguil Chavez, 24, Bastian Orellano Morales, 23, Jordan Quiroga Sanchez, 22, and Ignacio Zuniga Cartes, 20, were all charged with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property.

Since October 2024, more than $2 million worth of valuables have been stolen in a series of break-ins targeting the homes of NFL and NBA players, including Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Other players with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Milwaukee Bucks, Cincinnati Bengals, and Memphis Grizzlies were also allegedly burglarized, with watches, jewelry, cash, and other luxury valuables being taken.

If convicted, the defendants all face a maximum penalty of 10 years in federal prison.
