Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced on May 17 that she has introduced articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland for “facilitating the weaponization and politicization of the United States justice system against the American people.”

In the impeachment articles, Greene cited multiple issues including the FBI getting involved in the affairs of parents concerned about their children’s education, pro-life centers getting attacked, intimidating protests outside the homes of Supreme Court justices, and going after former President Donald Trump.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) came under fire in 2021 for inserting itself in the affairs of parents furious over school policies ranging from COVID to far-left curricula including critical race theory. An Oct. 4, 2021, memorandum from Garland instructed the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices to convene meetings with federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial leaders in each federal judicial district“ in order to ”facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff“ so that there are ”open dedicated lines of communication for threat reporting, assessment, and response.”
The memorandum was in response to a letter sent by the National School Boards Association (NSBA) to President Joe Biden, warning about threats against school faculty, comparing it to domestic terrorism.
Pro-life centers nationwide have been attacked over the past couple of years using methods that have included vandalism and firebombing.
Far-left militant groups such as Jane’s Revenge have allegedly been behind the attacks. Since Politico published a story in May 2022, after obtaining a leaked draft opinion of the Supreme Court voting to overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey—both of which happened one month later—people have marched outside the homes of the conservative justices: Chief Justice John Roberts (who voted against overturning Roe and Casey) and Justices Amy Coney Barrett, Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, and Samuel Alito.

In her articles of impeachment, Greene accused Garland of “persecuting” Trump, citing the August 2022 FBI raid of the former president’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida, where classified documents were found as Trump and his team allegedly refused to comply with a subpoena to hand them back to the government.

Greene also accused Garland of not “focusing on prosecuting Antifa and Black Lives Matters rioters that have desecrated American cities and caused billions of dollars worth of public and private property damage” and instead “[overseeing] the persecution of Americans for participating in political protest.”

The Epoch Times has reached out to the DOJ for comment on the articles of impeachment.

These are not the only articles of impeachment Greene has introduced in what she has called “Impeachment Week.”

She has also filed articles of impeachment against U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves and FBI Director Christopher Wray.
