DANA POINT, Calif.—Somebody who bought a Powerball ticket at a Ralphs store in Dana Point will soon be much richer, with that ticket now worth up to $44 million.
A ticket with all six numbers on the Powerball drawing on Aug. 19 was sold at the supermarket at 32555 Golden Lantern. The lucky winner has the option of receiving the $44 million jackpot in 30 installments or a $21.9 million lump sum payment before federal taxes.
The numbers drawn on Monday were 1, 2, 15, 23, and 28. The Powerball number was 10.
The drawing was the third since the last time a ticket with all six numbers was sold.
A ticket with five numbers, but missing the Powerball number, was sold in Nebraska and is worth $1 million, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which conducts the game.
The odds of matching all five numbers and the Powerball number is 1 in 292.2 million, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association. The overall chance of winning a prize is 1 in 24.9.
The Powerball game is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing will be $20 million.
