The Powerball jackpot rose to $430 million after nobody claimed the winning numbers on Oct. 17, and the next drawing is Oct. 20, according to lottery officials.

The winning Powerball numbers on Wednesday night were 3, 57, 64, 68, 69, and Powerball 15. The next drawing is slated for Saturday at 11 p.m. ET.

The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday after no one claimed the winning numbers on Tuesday. It now stands at $900 million and is the second-largest jackpot in U.S. history.

“Big news! No one matched all six numbers in the Mega Millions game Tuesday so Friday’s jackpot will be worth an estimated $868 million. CA did sell a 5/6 prize worth $1.9 million. That winning retailer was Safeway located at 15 Marina Blvd,” said the California Lottery.
According to USA Today, the odds of winning the Powerball are at 292,201,388 to 1. The odds for Mega Millions, meanwhile, is 302,575,350 to 1.

To win both, the odds are 1 in 88 quadrillion, the report noted.

The last Powerball jackpot was won Aug. 1.

“Everyone is talking about the jackpot and running out to buy tickets for tonight’s drawing,” Gordon Medenica, Mega Millions lead director and Maryland Lottery and Gaming director, said in a CBS News report. “It’s always a thrill to have both jackpots rolling, but there’s an extra spark now with Mega Millions reaching a new record,” he added to ABC News.

The all-time largest lottery win was on Jan. 13, 2016, when three tickets shared $1.586 billion in a Powerball drawing, CNBC reported. And on July 24, a California office of 11 co-workers shared a $543 million jackpot, which is the largest-ever prize won in a Mega Millions game.

Tickets for Mega Millions are also $2, and the deadline is 10:50 p.m. ET in most states. Powerball tickets are $2 and have to be purchased by 9:45 p.m. ET in most states.

Lottery officials have urged winners to take a deep breath, put their winning ticket in a safe spot, and consult with a reputable financial planner before popping over to the lottery headquarters, according to The Associated Press.

Their first decision is whether to take the cash option or an annuity, with one initial payment and annual installments over 29 years. Nearly all winners opt for cash, but the annuity has advantages, as it reduces the tax bill a little and offers a stable flow of income that climbs by 5 percent annually, AP noted.

Winners can remain anonymous in six states—Delaware, Kansas, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio, and South Carolina. In Arizona, people who win more than $600 can keep their names secret for 90 days after claiming prizes, but after that names are public record. In Michigan, winners are anonymous unless they win Mega Millions or Powerball prizes.
