Police: Suspect Charged After Shots Fired Outside Memphis Mall

Police responded to a shooting which left three injured near Wolfchase Galleria in Memphis on Tuesday night, Dec. 26.

The incident took place at approximately 7 p.m at the 2700 block of North Germantown Parkway, according to police.

Two people were taken to St. Francis Bartlett in non-critical condition and a third person was taken to Regional One Medical Center also in non-critical condition, reported Fox 13.
Memphis Police Department spokesperson Louis Brownlee said the shooting happened outside of the Cheesecake Factory after a fight broke out inside of the mall, reported WREG. A gun was found outside the JC Penny parking lot, reported Fox 13.

Four people have been arrested in relation to the incident.

Police have identified one of the suspects as 23-year-old Marquice Lester, who has been charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, Dec. 28.

Videos of the incident have been posted on social media, which show hundreds of shoppers and mall employees frantically running out of the mall when the commotion started.

Warning: Graphic language and violence in footage may be distressing for some viewers.

“All of a sudden, we heard arguing,” a frightened mall employee told WREG. “Once we heard arguing, we heard the people, you know, they were fighting. They were in the actual altercation. Two minutes into the altercation, about 10 shots rang out and everybody ran to different exits.”

Police investigations are still ongoing.
