A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was shot Tuesday, Nov. 7, on Route 33 near Plainfield Township, Pennsylvania, and a suspect is in custody, authorities have said.
In a tweet at a little after 11:30 a.m., the Pennsylvania State Police said that “one trooper [was] shot during [a] traffic stop.”
The Easton Hospital was briefly placed on lockdown after a blue Pontiac with a back window that had been shot out was seen near the hospital emergency room.
The suspect drove himself to the hospital and is now in custody, local media report.
According to emergency radio dispatches, police were attempting to locate a second occupant of the blue Pontiac, The Morning Call reported.
The condition of the shot Pennsylvania State Police trooper isn’t yet known.
Governor Tom Wolf issued a statement on twitter, saying that he’s “praying for this trooper and their family.”
“My thoughts are with all of the” Pennsylvania State Police, he wrote.
“All I know is that a state trooper was shot at a traffic stop and that he’s being attended to,” Morganelli said.
