Law officials were forced to delay the arraignment of an Orange, Calif. mass shooting suspect for the sixth time April 9 as the alleged gunman remains incapacitated.
Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzalez, 44, was shot by police March 31 following a mass shooting in Orange that left four people—including a 9-year-old boy—dead.
He was initially to be arraigned April 2, but his inability to communicate prompted a continued delay of criminal proceedings.
Prosecutors said April 9 that despite still being incapacitated, Gonzalez has shown signs of improvement.
On March 31 around 5:30 p.m., a man used bicycle-type locks to secure iron gates leading to an office building at 202 W. Lincoln Avenue in Orange. He then went inside the building and opened fire inside Unified Homes, a mobile home real estate business.
The victims include 50-year-old Luis Tovar, 28-year-old Jenevieve Raygoza, 9-year-old Matthew Farias, and 50-year-old Leticia Solis.
Jenevieve and Matthew’s mother, Blanca Tamayo, was shot twice in the head and is currently in the hospital in critical yet stable condition. She was cradling her son Matthew’s body when police found them.
Since the incident, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office has charged Gonzalez with four counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder, as well as special circumstance allegations.
