Orange County health officials reported 110 new deaths related to the COVID-19 virus on Jan. 19, accounting for a two-day tally that includes fatalities from Jan. 18.
The Orange County Health Care Agency confirmed 64 deaths were recorded Jan. 19, when daily cases reached 2,314. With 12,430 tests conducted, the positivity rate was 18.6 percent.
Another 46 deaths were reported Jan. 18, when the daily case count was 1,681. The positivity rate was lower, with 11.3 percent of the 14,853 tested confirmed to be carrying the virus.
Of the 110 deaths reported, 35 were skilled nursing facility residents, while an additional 16 were assisted living facility residents.
As of Jan. 19, there were 523 patients being treated in local intensive care units (ICU).
The Southern California region’s ICU availability remained at zero percent.
