The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office in California said one of its officers fired beanbag rounds to help free a bear trapped in a car in South Lake Tahoe.

Footage of the incident shows officials responding to reports of a bear trapped in the back of a silver car parked in a driveway.

“He’s done a little bit of damage in there,” an officer is heard in the video. “We’re going to try and get him out, because he’s not happy at all.”

The officer then fires beanbag rounds at the back of the car, shattering the windshield. The bear then jumps out of the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said that drivers shouldn’t leave food inside vehicles or leave their vehicles unlocked.
