Tickets Selling Quickly
Due to sales projections, 75 percent of the 302 million possible combinations will be chosen for the next Mega Millions drawing, up from 59.1 percent from Friday’s, said Carole Gentry, spokeswoman for Maryland Lottery and Gaming, reported The Associated Press.“It’s possible that nobody wins again. But it’s hard to fathom,” Gentry said.
Russ Lopez, who is spokesman for the California Lottery, told AP that tickets were going “very, very quickly” on Saturday.
“We tell them how to play it,” Tonya Jimenez, assistant manager at Beavers Market in Fort Collins, Colorado, told AP that sales are also brisk, according to the AP report. She said that there are many first-time players. “They don’t know what to do. We’re doing a lot of explaining.”
The Mega Millions jackpot has ballooned since July, after a group of 11 office co-workers from California won $543 million.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets hit,” Gentry added. “I'd be more surprised if it doesn’t get hit.”
Mega Millions is available in 44 states, Washington D.C., and the Virgin Islands.
