Maryland officials said that three people were shot and killed at a Rite Aid distribution warehouse on Sept. 20.
People are being asked to avoid the area outside of Perryman, located 30 miles northeast of Baltimore, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Zenith Freight Lines, TruAire, the Clorox Company, and Maines Paper & Food Service are also located at the same business park where the Rite Aid distribution center is located.
“We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting in Aberdeen. Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders. The state stands ready to offer any support,” Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said on Twitter.
Church Creek Elementary School was also placed on a modified lockdown due to the shooting, the Sun reported.
The FBI and the ATF said they were responding to the shooting.
“I, of course, thought it was far off or, that’s like down the road or something, right?” Colleen Hendrickson, who lives nearby, told CNN. “No, it’s right outside. It’s right on the doorstep.”
“It’s really just usually very calm, and this is the most chaotic I’ve ever seen it,” she added. “It’s very scary when it’s just right there on your doorstep because you can see a billion news reports about shooters, about emergency instances, and it still doesn’t make it real to you.”
Other details about the shooting are not clear. This story will be updated later.
