Man’s Body Found in Barrel on Malibu Beach

A man’s body was found in a 55-gallon drum on a beach in Malibu, and an investigation was underway on July 31.

According to ABC7, the drum was seen in the water at Malibu Lagoon State Beach on the night of July 30 by sanitation workers, who decided to wait to retrieve it until Monday morning, when they discovered what was inside.

Authorities went to the 23200 block of Pacific Coast Highway at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Homicide detectives were sent to investigate the man’s death, the sheriff’s department reported. Information was not immediately available on his identity or cause of death.
